Left Right Center in one page

3+ players · 3 LCR dice · 3 chips each · a center pot

Each player starts with 3 chips. On your turn, roll one die for each chip you hold, up to 3 dice. For every L you pass a chip to the player on your left, for every R a chip to your right, and for every C a chip into the center pot. Dots do nothing, and the last player with any chips wins the pot.

In brief

  • Everyone starts with 3 chips
  • Roll 1 die per chip, 3 dice max
  • L = pass 1 chip to your left
  • R = pass 1 chip to your right
  • C = put 1 chip in the center
  • Dot = keep the chip
  • Regular dice: 1–3 dot, 4 L, 5 C, 6 R
  • No chips? Skip your turn, you're still in
  • Play goes clockwise, to the left
  • Last player holding chips wins the center pot

Setup

  1. Sit in a circle so everyone has a clear left and right neighbor. You need at least 3 players.
  2. Give each player 3 chips. The boxed game from George & Company includes 24 chips, enough for 8 players; for a bigger group, add coins, buttons, or chips from another set.
  3. Set out the 3 LCR dice. Each die has an L on one face, a C on one face, an R on one face, and a single dot on the other three faces.
  4. No LCR dice? Use regular dice and treat 1, 2, and 3 as dots, 4 as L, 5 as C, and 6 as R.
  5. Clear a spot in the middle of the table for the center pot, and pick anyone to roll first. Play then passes clockwise, to the left.

On your turn

  1. Count your chips. Roll one die per chip: 3 dice if you have 3 or more chips, 2 dice with 2 chips, 1 die with 1 chip. With 4 or more chips you still roll only 3 dice.
  2. For each L, hand one chip to the player on your left.
  3. For each R, hand one chip to the player on your right.
  4. For each C, put one chip in the center pot. Chips in the center stay there until the game ends.
  5. For each dot, do nothing; you keep that chip.
  6. If you have no chips, you don't roll. Your turn is skipped, but you stay in the circle, because a neighbor's L or R can hand you a chip and put you back in play.

Winning

As soon as only one player has chips, that player wins and takes everything in the center pot. The winner doesn't roll again, even with just one chip left. To play another game, gather all the chips and give each player 3 again.
